Environment, Social, Economy
More than 60 years ago, guided by the conviction that vacations are an essential good for the individual, VTF Vacances gave access to as many people as possible to vacations hitherto reserved for a few.
Today, the world is changing, and we must collectively face unprecedented challenges: climate change, scarcity of resources, or even the impact of food on our health to name a few. These issues challenge our relationship to the "making" of vacations. They push us to act with ever more responsibility, to rethink our model.
A new path is necessary and possible: we will succeed by acting as a committed and proactive actor in all our value chains and by mobilizing both our employees and our holidaymakers.
Today, our commitments are centered around 3 pillars:
1- Reducing our carbon footprint:
As part of our approach my 'Responsable Restaurant®', our meals are prepared with regional products from short circuits: 60% of the products we serve are of French origin and we value local and regional products. We also ensure to limit the consumption of meat and offer meals based on plants: cereals and legumes.
In addition, we measure the volume of our waste and practice selective sorting. We limit paper and individual packaged products and prefer the use of reusable containers for picnics.
Our teams are trained in sustainable tourism, the environmental management of our establishments and the preservation of our territories and our vacationers are aware of eco-gestures. Discover the eco-friendly practices.
2- Water and energy savings:
We analyze our energy consumption in order to optimize it and regularly check our technical installations. We master the proper use of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Our faucets and shower heads are equipped with flow regulators, double push-button flush toilets to save water. Rainwater is used for watering green spaces. The lighting in the common areas is equipped with presence-sensing and/or timer systems. Our establishments are subject to relampage by changing our classic bulbs with LEDs, and the outdoor lights are turned off when they are not essential.
1- The VTF staff
Respect for human rights, non-discrimination, equality of opportunity, diversity/mix, hygiene, health and safety in the workplace: our actions are inscribed daily in our diversity charter and we have been progressing since 2022 on our gender equality index.
We are implementing numerous actions aimed at promoting professional integration and access to employment for young people by welcoming interns, developing work-study programs and a proactive training policy in order to support the upskilling of our employees.
In addition, we are conducting an offensive policy for the integration of workers with disabilities through internal awareness campaigns to welcome workers with disabilities each SEEPH (European Week for the Employment of Disabled People), the development of partnerships with employment prescribers (CAP EMPLOI...) and we occasionally participate in fairs dedicated to the recruitment of disabled workers. The objective of VTF Vacances in 2025 is to fulfill its employment obligation regarding employees with disabilities.
The quality of life at work is also a subject at the heart of our concerns and we ensure to improve the quality of accommodation for our teams on our holiday villages, an organization of work allowing as much as possible, given the particularity of our activity, the reconciliation of professional and personal life. Finally, we are implementing numerous actions to sustain employment, particularly among seasonal workers: proposing a double winter/summer season to combat precariousness, promote the development of skills and develop the commitment of our employees and we consider the transition from seasonal to permanent status as soon as possible within the framework of geographical mobility or depending on our opening periods.
2- The Territories
We support the development of employment and skills in the territories by developing local employment and promoting short circuits, local suppliers and partnerships with actors of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).
Particularly attached to our territories, we participate in the preservation and conservation of the places where our holiday villages are located. It is clear that holidays as we love them would not be viable in a degraded environment. Our efforts will also allow future generations to enjoy the pleasure of authentic holidays: contemplate a preserved fauna and flora, admire the diversity of landscapes and discover, in turn, the richness of local heritage and cultures.
A commitment respectful of others and the environment with certifications and concrete actions: Mon Restau Responsable®, Atout France label for the classification of our holiday villages, and the implementation of an environmental charter.
The year 2022 marked the first steps of VTF in the Green Key labeling; a label that allows to concretize the actions carried out for a long time in the field of sustainable development. Five establishments were labeled in 2023 and renewed in 2024 then 2025:
Eight new sites labeled for 2024 and renewed for 2025:
Four new labeled sites for 2025:
VTF will present new villages in 2025 with the objective of having all VTF villages certified by 2030.
3- The Vacationers
Social diversity, one of the founding elements of VTF, is preserved thanks to agreements signed with social partners such as CAF (Family Allowance Funds) or with associations such as Secours Populaire or Les Resto du Cœur, and most of our villages are accessible to people with disabilities. We claim that holidays are moments of sharing and openness towards other social or cultural horizons.
In terms of responsible tourism, we encourage carpooling in our activities, raise awareness among our holidaymakers about climate change, and support them with good practices through eco-gestures.
In terms of catering, our chefs offer our holidaymakers dishes cooked on site to the taste of local specialties with nearly 50% fresh, raw and traditional products and 90% of seasonal products. Eating well also means paying particular attention to the supply chains for the products that will be in our recipes. Also we favor products recognized for their quality and carried by a label or brand: MSC sustainable fishing, Blue-White-Heart, red label, AOP, AOC...
Finally, through our activities, we make sure to offer a discovery of the territories in which we are established, allowing everyone to be an actor of their holidays and to strengthen the local economy.
1- Business model
As an Association of Social and Solidarity Tourism, our results do not reward shareholders but are invested in the functioning of the Association: services, quality and comfort of our structures, remuneration of our teams. We participate in an economy of non-profit, rejecting ultraliberalism, the society of hyperconsumption and "all profit".
2- Fair pricing
VTF offers all-inclusive holidays in France with quality services at a fair price, whether it is accommodation, catering, entertainment and tours. This means that once you arrive at your holiday destination, you no longer have to pay anything. We practice a policy of solidarity with family quotient rates, degressivity for children, and special family offers to welcome as many people as possible.
3- The development
Opening up new destinations is a goal that we set ourselves daily while paying particular attention to the choice of owners or project leaders, sharing our social commitments. Management or takeover partnerships are therefore naturally signed with organizations, all from the social economy (CSE, CAF, Associations, Mutuelles, Foundations, Communities...).
